Exciting news!

“Our team also loved seeing the photos provided of your Eco-Committee – What a fantastic bunch!”

We are delighted to inform you that we have recently achieved the prestigious Eco Schools Green Flag award.

The children have created their very own eco project to increase their awareness of the environment and sustainability.

There were 7 steps the children had to take beginning with starting their very own Eco Committee! Kristina supported them as the Eco Co-Ordinator but we soon realised that there could be future politicians in the making!

Once the children completed their very first Environmental Review they went about implementing the actions required for change.

These included; growing their own fruits and vegetables, invited the local community to come and visit us to share in our experience, reviewed the levels of waste and recycling in the nursery and learnt about biodiversity.

These actions were then linked to the curriculum and areas of learning to support and enhance the new skills and knowledge the children have gained.

The children enjoyed evaluating and monitoring the actions they had created before designing their very own Eco Code of ‘To put rubbish in the bin and to keep the nursery clean. To use recycling bins for items which can be recycled, to only use the water we need, turn the lights off when we are not using the rooms, to walk or cycle to nursery if possible, help our environment to flourish by respecting ‘mud club’ and to respect animal habitats in our outdoors area.

“It’s brilliant to see that young people took ownership over their work by sharing responsibility for meeting minutes.”
