Beach Day!

Beach Day is one of our favourite days of year! The garden of Monkey Puzzle Bromley turns into our own magical tropical island full of sand and water, bubbles and of course a monkey!
The children had a fantastic time building sand castles, blowing bubbles and of course splashing in the paddling pool! There was lots of giggles and laughter and fun had throughout the day by everyone.

We had fish, chips and mushy peas for lunch and ice cream and wafers for pudding! It was delicious!

This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to experience the beach – water play and sand play in a different environment encouraging them to use and develop new skills, experiment with textures, use and develop different language and practice working together to achieve goals. There was some excellent team work happeningn to make amazing sand castles!

I think it is safe to say that we love Beach Day!

Summer BBQ 2017

Our annual Summer BBQ was a great success with lots of our families joining us to celebrate our graduates and another amazing year at Monkey Puzzle Bromley! As a family we love the opportunity to get together, share some food and have a good catch up! It was great to catch up with so many of our families, find out what is happening in their lives and talk about what a great year we have had at the nursery. Thank you to everyone who came and made it such a great afternoon!

Graduation 2017

Congratulations to all our Preschool graduates of 2017! We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you and wish you all the best in your new schools. We are excited to see what the future holds for you and it has been a real privilege to be part of your lives so far!

Graduation is a special event and this year was our biggest yet with 21 Preschoolers graduating at our wonderful cap and gown ceremony! The children had a great time dressing up in their graduation outfits and showing their friends and family what they have achieved. Following the ceremony the children released balloons before we celebrated as a nursery with our annual Summer BBQ. It was a great day and everyone had a fantastic time!

International Mud Day!

Yesterday was International Mud Day! And what a fun day it was! There was mud EVERYWHERE! Lots of the children enjoyed cooking in the mud kitchen, making animals jump in muddy puddles, digging in the mud with dinosaurs and playing with our own muddy style playdough!

Mud is messy but it is such an important part of our children’s learning and development! “making connections through discovering and investigating cause and effect is the stuff of brain development and scientic process. Curiosity, fascination and the pleasure of finding things out are fundamentally important to the human state – being human!” (Muddy Faces)

Forest School – What can we find?

Every week at Forest School we have a treasure hunt to see what sorts of thing we can find in nature. Sometimes we find amazing sticks we can turn into bow and arrows other times we find tiny caterpillar eggs or a hole where a fox might live. This week we found a milipeed! He was very small and moved very fast!

We also made some mud soup and made special mud pictures on the trees. We got to go back to the climbing frame tree too – we love it there!

Forest School – Noises of the Forest

Today we were listening to all the different noises in the forest. We could hear the wind rustling the leaves, birds singing in the trees and even a train nearby! It was very exciting to listen to so many different noises we don’t always get to hear during a busy nursery day!

The rain came on and we took cover while we ate our picnic. We then got to go and investigate the climbing frame tree which was brilliant fun! We got to climb and balance and swing!!

Week 4 – Animal Houses

This week we were talking all about where animals live. We looked for burrows, nests and holes that different animals might live in. We spotted a birds nest in one of the trees and a burrow, but we weren’t sure what might live inside!

After we had a good look for different animal houses we started to build a house for our Gruffalo out of lots and lots of sticks we found! It was a bit tricky to get them to balance!!

Forest School – Animal Evidence

This week Forest School was all about animal evidence! We got out our magnifying glasses and started to search for different signs of animals on our site. We found leaves that had been eaten, sticks that had been chewed and we even managed to find some caterpillar eggs on huge leaves!
